As part of Wadi Araba Minerals Company LLC’s commitment to applying the highest Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) standards, and to strengthening effective partnerships with local communities, a meeting was held bringing together a number of community leaders and representatives from Al-Risha and Abu Khusheiba areas, along with the management of Wadi Araba Minerals Company LLC.
This meeting aimed to present the company’s future vision regarding the exploration and development of copper, gold, and associated minerals in the Abu Khusheiba area. The discussion was open and transparent, based on relevant technical, environmental, and development facts.
Several key topics were discussed as part of a sustainable working approach, including environmental protection measures. Attendees were informed about the environmental measures to be applied at all project stages—from exploration to mining and processing—following best practices and recognized standards, ensuring reduced environmental impact and protection of natural resources. Development plans for the area were also addressed, with the long-term development vision for the area discussed alongside ways to align the project with local economic and social development. Capacity building and vocational training formed another key part of the discussion, as the company’s plans for training and professional development were reviewed, aiming to empower local community members and prepare them for work across all stages of mining projects.
Based on the discussions, a future vision was established. Both parties agreed to form a joint committee that includes representatives from the company and the local community, to be established once the agreement comes into effect. The responsibilities of the joint committee will include handling, coordination and communication with community representatives, informing them about actual needs at each project stage in terms of workforce, equipment, and services, supporting job opportunities for local residents to help reduce unemployment, and assisting in preparing qualified local professionals to work across all stages of mining projects, from exploration to processing.
Training and local capacity development were also highlighted, with the company set to organize specialized training programs and courses, subject to the establishment of a vocational training center, which is currently under study in coordination with local and international partners. The goals include preparing local individuals for employment in the mining sector, creating long-term and sustainable job opportunities, and supporting knowledge transfer and building local expertise in line with global best practices.
Wadi Araba Minerals Company LLC confirms that this approach reflects its commitment to applying global ESG standards and strengthening partnerships with local communities. This ensures a balanced approach between economic development, environmental protection, and social responsibility, while creating sustainable added value for the region and its people.
